Coming of Age

If social media has done nothing else, it has certainly blasted birthdays out of whatever closet they may have been stored in!  My thanks to everyone who took the time to send best wishes for my 73rd.  I wish I could acknowledge each one individually, but I’d be at it for days!  So please consider yourself to be receiving thanks—and a friendly hug!

Age is an interesting thing, isn’t it?  I took time last Wednesday to meditate on how my Spirit Self was responding to my birthday.  It’s a celebration of our ego self, of course, since time is not a spiritual thing at all.  But I’m discovering more and more that in my eager pursuit of spiritual expansion I may have been holding an insufficient appreciation of time and other factors unique to this human experience.

I’m beginning to see everything in my life—everything!—as a creation lesson.  I’m slowly (73 years!) getting the hang of it.  Now I wish to declare that I’m ready for the big leagues.  I have no idea what that means, but I think it will make for an interesting year.  A wonderful spiritual teacher once warned me that the most dangerous affirmation possible is simply ‘Beloved, I AM ready!’  I’ve avoided it ever since; I’m ready to claim it now.

So as I enter the 74th year of this particular lifetime, I AM choosing to create a life experience that draws from everything I’ve experienced and learned in the first 73 years to fully express my unique spiritual purpose as abundance, joy and achievement.  I’ve been practicing and practicing, sometimes expressing my creative Power efficiently, sometimes very inefficiently.

Consider this realization from the 139th Psalm:

“When my bones were being formed,

carefully put together in my mother's womb,

when I was growing there in secret,

you knew that I was there—

you saw me before I was born.

The days allotted to me

had all been recorded in your book,

before any of them ever began.”

So my very physical form was ‘carefully put together’ in order to achieve a purpose which I had already agreed to in Spirit. Since there is no time in Spirit, ‘the days allotted to me’ are the energy of completion that moves me forward.

Let’s experiment this week.  For whatever period of time is comfortable for you, choose to see everything—absolutely everything—as an expression of your infinite Spirit, bringing either rewards or lessons. See how it feels to live totally free of judgment.  Blessings!
