We have come to realize that it is through the Beingness we find in our individual hearts that we can most easily focus the Power of God that is our true identity. This new awareness of our often untapped heart energy makes our spiritual purpose both clearer and more possible.
Groups can also have a heart center, as well as movements and organizations. I don’t think there can be any doubt that the heart of the Unity movement can be found in a small meditation room on the third floor of a building at Unity Village. It is the prayer chapel of Silent Unity, the great prayer work begun over a century ago by Unity’s co-founder, Myrtle Fillmore. There is always at least one person in prayer in the Silent Unity chapel, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Nearby can be heard the low hum of phone conversations as thousands of people each day phone Silent Unity from all parts of the world to request prayer support for themselves or others, or to give thanks for a previous prayer that has been joyfully answered. If prayer energy is truly regenerative, then the Silent Unity prayer room may be the youngest space on the planet – eternally new through the non-stop prayer energy of over one hundred years.
Callers to Silent Unity - and those who write letters and send emails as well - have many different prayer requests; but one in particular is requested most often. It is not a request for prosperity or health or even love; it is for guidance. We so often feel far removed from God, from an understanding of the next right step. But this is the easiest prayer of all to fulfill. Whatever guidance we need we will find once we allow ourselves to relax, be still, and trust the still quiet voice that is God’s guidance within us.
Today, I relax. I wait and know that the voice of my heart is the guidance of God. Thank You, God.
